They’ve locked us in a cruiser’s converted cargo hold for the trip. At least they tell us it’s a cruiser.
Officers were missing this morning. Turns out they were getting briefed on our new mission details. All came to give us the good news at a briefing, here I the barracks; Our squad got an honorable notation for putting our best foot forward for the Colonel. We’re heading to a rediscovered world called Khitar. Apparently they’re having trouble understanding their good fortune at joining the Imperium of Man. I look forward to bringing light to the unfaithful.
Ran combat maneuvers on ship today. Showed those sorry excuses for soldiers in 1st Platoon how it’s done.
We came down early with Lt. Risault, as the honor guard. IG forces in theater have little more than their faith in the Emperor to fight the insurgents, and their manner is not befitting enlisted men. Our good examples will show them the way. Medic Ovinko got the Latrines and medical facilities in safe conditions for use, praise The Emperor. Met Missionary Barhesfen at the Fire Base’s chapel. Throne save me, he cares, but he seems more interested in erecting a nicer chapel, than bringing light to this world through strength of arms. Perhaps my point of view is skewed. I will pray for The Emperor’s Guidance.
Command Thought we’d unsettle the locals less than the more savage Guard already on world. Can’t say I disagreed. We were sent out to man check point Thracius, searching vehicles, and checking papers. Turns out we put the locals so much at ease, that they felt comfortable running our road block, and opening fire on us. The insurgents were from Khitar, but look to be from a different part of the planet. Ovinko saved a Cydonian Guardsman, and we put down six heretics before the others ran off. Going to rest this gut shot of mine. Will be fine by morning though.
